AVA Byte raises $2M Seed Round Thanks to Data provided by Rainfactory
AVA Technologies, who launched their first product on Indiegogo in partnership with Rainfactory, has closed a $2M seed round from Vancouver-based venture capital firm Vanedge Capital.
The financing will be used in part to help manage the success of the crowdfunding campaign, filling existing orders for AVA Byte. AVA Byte is the smart, sustainable indoor garden that uses pre-seeded pods, sensors, and artificial intelligence to help consumers grow their own produce easily. In addition, AVA Technologies plans to invest in building their team, stocking up on inventory, and exploring retail channels. Given their success, they want to capitalize on their opportunity to grow.
Valerie Song, CEO, and her cofounder, Chase Ando, first met representatives from Vanedge when they took part in a 2016 startup competition. Even then, they knew they wanted to “feed the world’s transition to sustainable food,” which now serves as part of AVA Technologies mission statement. Since then, they’ve been working to build AVA Byte. In a 2016 blog post, she says “In life… you get out what you put in.” Two years, an extremely successful Indiegogo campaign, and a $2 million financing round later and that seems to be more true than ever.
